&lt;p&gt;I think there&#039;s a clearly defined difference between the advertising you receive in email and social networks.  With email marketing, the recipient has actually subscribed at some previous point for your communications, where as with social networking advertising they&#039;re taking interests you&#039;ve posted about yourself and trying to promote similar products to you.  &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If anything, I think you&#039;ll see a decrease in bought list email marketing and a clear seperation will appear between the two as email marketing recipients will only really respond to emails they&#039;ve given first-hand permission to.  &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Thoughts?&lt;/p&gt;
