Customer Conference

Silverpop hosted its third annual customer conference May 19-20. This year's gathering brought out a record number of clients and some fabulous speakers. David Daniels of JupiterResearch and Stefan Tornquist of MarketingSherpa kicked off each of the two days with email best practices and state-of-the-industry overviews.

Despite a string of great speakers, the best learnings came from outside the conference rooms. Some of the most interesting discussions happened in the hallways, restaurants and bars. A few of my favorite topics: the logistics required to meet the Federal Trade Commission's new proposed three-day turn-around on opt-outs, RSS vs email or RSS + email, the under-utilization of the confirmation page, the most effective forms of data synchronization between email service providers and CRM systems, web analytics (some great discussions were spawned from the presentation by our partner, WebSideStory), email marketing in 2010, the real promise of mobile marketing, etc, etc.
