When it comes to social marketing, almost every marketer I meet is trying to answer a few key questions. Some are trying to carve time in an already-busy campaign flow to be better at social, some are desperately searching for great writers to power a smarter content strategy – but virtually every one is focused on which social sites actually move the needle for their business.
A couple months ago I sat down with the one of the industry’s top thinkers on the topic — Gary Vaynerchuk. While Gary’s keynote talks, random plane videos and tweets are always entertaining, his secret sauce is how often he’s dead on-point. Love or hate his style (I love), he’s on a very short list of social media thinkers I believe every marketer should consume and consider.
In the two videos below, Gary and I discuss social strategy on a by-network basis. I end up slightly more bullish on Twitter’s advertising products than Gary, but he makes some great points about how to truly embrace the finer points of each individual social network.
And if you haven’t read his latest book, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook, get a copy today and put it at the top of your summer reading list.
